and for someone who said she'd like to update this blog frequently, she hasn't in roughly 5 months. actually, i've been meaning to update a lot on this site and just haven't had the chance to - not that it excuses anything but it makes you wonder where did i go for about 5 months.
i think this is a good way to recap my year briefly but i'm also probably the last person to summarize anything with how i am lol.

✦ looking back on the year
in terms of personal news, there were a lot of ups and downs but i did finally manage to graduate from school and even land a job in my area of study. on the highest of keys, job hunting in this day and age is so stressful; you would think these are words from some harden, life-can't-tear-down-despite-everything middle aged person, but i really did only turn 22 this year. isn't that surprising? somehow, i feel like i aged at least 10 years with how stressful my summer was.
this year was also the first time i really took the chance to go out and meet others; if it wasn't for work, i really am just a random shut-in on the internet with not too many friends that aren't just words on the screen. it's a different feeling meeting people you've only heard the voice of over discord calls and seeing their vtuber avatar wiggle in the corner of gameplay footage. like really - well, i don't think it's something anyone should experience because y'know... internet safety and stuff, however i have no sense of self-preservation; i had fun anyways.
in terms of vtubing, i think i've accomplished a lot. i was able to debut 2 outfits this year, released my own merch (even though i have the worst luck imaginable) and even having the chance to upgrade my streaming set-up; i only recently got a new monitor, finally upgrading from just a laptop screen to having 2 monitors in total! it's a small upgrade, but for me, it's quite huge especially since i'm not particularly computer-savy in any way.
i also didn't know where to add this but as someone who is like a super duper huge fan of vtubers, i'm actually really happy to watch a particular streamer this year, i even bought membership for once which is like, lowkey crazy anyways yippee my awesome sugoi oshikatsu life!!!

like every year, i don't really have any particular feelings towards the new year; it kind of feels like just another day, i just have to change the number whenever i write the date. this year, for once, i'm actually looking forward to the new year. i can't wait to begin new projects, finish older ones and even meet new people. isn't that crazy?
✦ some things to remember (media)
i've been meaning to write a lot of things about things that i've watched or seen, but because i'm a sucker for perfection, i ended up leaving a lot of these to rot in my drafts so i will give a super brief run down of ones that i can remember off the top of my head.
✦ My status as an assassin obviously exceeds the hero's
ok admittedly i was watching this as i write, so i don't think you can count this as a recommendation from me nor can you consider it my anime of the year (that belongs to delicious in dungeon) but because it is the freshest in my mind, i'm writing about it - it's my blog anyways lol.
as much as i don't care that much about isekai anime and how relatively easy it is to guess what would happen, i liked it as background noise. not that i have any particularly strong feelings towards it and the characters, but it's just ok i guess? i think the only thing i can say about it is that i think it would be better without the romance aspect of it; i find it a little odd with how fast the characters move with their relationships in anime like this, but i guess with such finite time, it would make sense why the characters are already carving rings out of their flesh and making eternal vows by episode 5 out of 12 in total. i do, however, enjoy the quietness of the main character - i think he's the right amount of cold that makes him likeable, but not asshole-like. also of course his name is akira because what else would it be if not akira
✦ persona 3 portable & persona 4 golden
although these games did not come out this year, these two games were the first two really long games i streamed on my channel. i'm not one to really finish the games i play on stream unless they're meant to be finished within 24 hours at most and honestly speaking i really like the persona series lol.
in terms of stories, i enjoyed persona 3 the most - i have played both reload and portable, but i think having to experience the story through the visual novel format, leaving some actions to the imagination rather than having a model act out the words i'm reading on screen and having the female protagonist going through all of the horrors of growing up whilst saving the world in comparison to the male protagonist is nice i mean even i experienced the horrors of growing up without the whole saving-the-world thing, so i kind of like playing a game where i can relate to the character lol. also not to mention that persona 3 was one of the only streams where i genuinely cried on stream because of the sun arcana's story yes i am still crying over it, it was such a beautifully tragic story that spanned over like a good chunk of the stream series. i also bring up persona 4 golden because although The Fog was important, i really liked watching the bonds between the characters progress as did the story. like many jrpgs, there is a set party the player can use while dungeon crawling, but there wasn't much emphasis on the team's synergy in terms of the story (if that makes sense); i appreciate how small details like how intertwined each characters were with each other rather than just the protagonist was present in the end game - they truly do feel like friends that had bonded through the whole dungeon-crawling-saving-the-town experience.
✦ hashihime of the old book town
i already glazed this series from start to finish in a previous blog post so i won't write lots, but it is one of my favourite visual novels to date. i loved the twists, turns, mysteries and characters of the novel that i wish more people read it. i do think it is one of the more linear novels i've read this year, but it's still a very good vn that just hooks you.
✦ hundred line: last defense academy
um, yaoi. next.
oh but seriously, it's one of the really fun games i've played this year - a game with multiple routes and endings really is up my alley. i haven't finished it yet because life really does get in the way, however i need everyone to know the first route i finished right after the first hundred days was the one with the eito yaoi ending and to be honest i think that's all you need to know about my hundred line run.

✦ what's next year going to look like (delusionally)
although i said i did look forward to the new year, i actually don't really know what to expect. on a personal level, i just want things to go smoothly this year - i'd like to go travelling, i'd like to keep my job (idk, i don't have very strong feelings in terms of careers, but i do appreciate stability) and i'd love to be able to go outside more often. on the vtubing side, it'll be my 4th year anniversary of streaming, so i'm really just looking forward to continue streaming this year to come (and hopefully release awesome projects that i have!)
